About the Anschütz 1771

The Anschütz Model 1771 is a German centerfire bolt-action hunting and varmint rifle that brings the firm's Olympic and biathlon match-action heritage to a medium-caliber sporting platform. Chambered in cartridges from .17 Hornet up through .222 Remington, .223 Remington and .300 Blackout, it features a cold-hammer-forged free-floated barrel, a full-diameter six-lug bolt with a short 60-degree throw for fast follow-up shots, an adjustable trigger and a four-round detachable magazine. It is offered with German walnut (1771 D / DG), GRS laminate adjustable, thumbhole and tactical stocks.

Anschütz's original Thuringian factory in Zella-Mehlis was dismantled by Soviet forces after WWII, forcing the family to relocate to Ulm, where all modern rifles including the 1771 are now built; the firm remains family-run into its fifth generation since 1856.
