About the IZh-35

The IZh-35 is a Soviet single-action, blowback-operated .22 Long Rifle target pistol developed at the Izhevsk Mechanical Plant and placed into serial production in 1978. Designed by Vladimir Yarygin for Olympic-style precision shooting sports such as 25 metre standard and sport pistol events, it feeds from a detachable five-round box magazine inserted into the grip and uses a fixed barrel for consistent accuracy. The all-steel construction, adjustable target sights, tuned single-action trigger and anatomical grip make it a purpose-built competition sidearm rather than a defensive handgun.

The IZh-35 was designed by Vladimir Yarygin, who would later create the MP-443 Grach - the standard sidearm of the modern Russian military - meaning the same engineer behind Russia's service pistol first made his name on an Olympic .22 target gun.

IZh-35 specifications

Chambered in .22 Long Rifle; the related IZh-34 model is chambered for .22 Short. The later IZh-35M is a lightened, modernized development of the same design.
