The Beretta 690 is an Italian over-and-under double-barrel shotgun built on Beretta's low-profile boxlock action, a modern evolution of the long-running 680 series. It uses Steelium monobloc barrels with extended forcing cones to soften recoil and even out patterns, a single selective trigger, automatic ejectors and the OptimaChoke HP interchangeable choke system. Offered in field, sporting and trap configurations, it sits in Beretta's mid-range above the 686 Silver Pigeon and below the 692 competition gun.

The 690 revives a model number from Beretta's 1980s 600-series lineage, repurposed for a 21st-century over-and-under that pairs the proven conical-lug boxlock action with the company's cold-hammer-forged Steelium barrel steel.
