About the Bernardelli S. Uberto

The Bernardelli S. Uberto is a traditional side-by-side double-barrel break-action shotgun built by the Italian gunmaker Vincenzo Bernardelli of Gardone Val Trompia. It is one of the firm's mainstay Anson & Deeley boxlock game guns, offered across a range of gauges including 12, 16, 20, 28 and .410 bore with fixed chokes and 2.75-inch chambers. The line was produced in several grades that share a common mechanism but differ in fittings and finish: the S. Uberto 1 with extractors and the S. Uberto 2 with automatic ejectors, both available with double triggers or an optional single selective trigger, walnut stocks in English straight-grip or pistol-grip pattern, and a coin-finished, lightly engraved boxlock action. Light and well balanced, the S. Uberto was conceived as an affordable, dependable field gun for upland and driven bird shooting.

Vincenzo Bernardelli began his gunmaking career running the Damascus-twist barrel division at the Franzini arms factory before founding his own firm in 1865. The S. Uberto series - named for Saint Hubert, the patron saint of hunters - became one of the company's staple boxlock game guns for generations of European bird shooters.
