About the Cimarron Wyatt Earp Frontier Buntline
The Cimarron Wyatt Earp Frontier Buntline is a single-action revolver chambered in .45 Colt, patterned on the 1873 Colt Single Action Army with an extended 10-inch "Buntline" barrel. Imported and finished by Cimarron Firearms and built on a Pietta-made frame, it commemorates the long-barreled six-gun made famous by the 1993 film Tombstone, featuring an Old Model color case hardened frame, standard blued barrel and cylinder, and a one-piece walnut grip inlaid with a sterling silver "Wyatt Earp, Peacekeeper" presentation plaque.
The 'Buntline Special' legend stems from author Stuart Lake's 1931 biography claiming dime novelist Ned Buntline presented long-barreled Colts to Wyatt Earp and other Dodge City lawmen. Most historians consider the story a fabrication, but the extra-long six-gun became an enduring Western icon, cemented by the 1993 film Tombstone, which this Cimarron model faithfully recreates.
