About the Colt Kodiak

The Colt Kodiak is a big-bore double-action/single-action revolver chambered in .44 Magnum, introduced for 2026 as a hunting and trail-protection sixgun built on Colt's large-frame Anaconda-derived platform. Reintroducing a name first used on a small limited run in 1993, the modern Kodiak is built entirely from polished stainless steel with an unfluted six-round cylinder that rotates clockwise in classic Colt fashion. Its defining feature is a ported vent-rib barrel - the integral porting vents combustion gas upward at the muzzle to tame the recoil of full-power .44 Magnum loads - capped by a recessed target crown. The Kodiak wears a fully adjustable black rear sight paired with a serrated ramp front sight with a colored insert, a top strap drilled and tapped for optic mounts, and recoil-absorbing Hogue overmolded rubber grips. It is offered with a 4.25-inch barrel as well as longer 4.75-inch and 6-inch configurations aimed at deep-woods defense and handgun hunting.

Colt revived the Kodiak name - last seen on a tiny 2,000-gun limited run in 1993 - for a modern ported .44 Magnum built under CZ ownership, joining the snake-themed Anaconda in Colt's big-bore revolver line as a dedicated deep-woods protector against the largest game.
