About the Bron-Sport

The Bron-Sport is a small Spanish double-action pocket revolver of the Velo-Dog type, built in Eibar by Crucelegui Hermanos in the early 20th century. Chambered most commonly for the 6.35mm Browning (.25 ACP) cartridge and also offered in the diminutive 5.5mm Velo-Dog and other small calibres, it is a solid-frame, double-action-only design with a folding trigger and a concealed (hammerless) mechanism for snag-free pocket carry. 'Bron-Sport' was one of several catchy trade names — alongside Puppy, Velo-Mith, Le Brong, Brong-Petit and C.H. — that Crucelegui Hermanos applied to its inexpensive personal-defence handguns for the export trade.

The Velo-Dog was born so cyclists could fend off aggressive dogs, its name blending 'velocipede' with 'dog'; some were even loaded with pepper or wax rounds. Eibar firms like Crucelegui Hermanos churned out cheap copies under a string of romantic trade names, of which Bron-Sport was one, to feed Europe's appetite for discreet pocket self-defence guns.

'Bron-Sport' is a Crucelegui Hermanos trade name rather than a formal model designation; the firm reused several near-interchangeable brand names across its small revolvers and pistols, so individual specimens vary in detail. Gun Digest lists the Bron-Sport as a double-action revolver offered in 5mm, 6.35mm, 7.65mm and 8mm. Specifications here are estimated from the Velo-Dog pocket-revolver pattern, as no detailed factory data survives.
