About the Gamo Swarm Maxxim

The Gamo Swarm Maxxim is a break-barrel, gas-piston (IGT) repeating air rifle made by the Spanish manufacturer Gamo. Unlike conventional break-barrel airguns that must be loaded one pellet at a time, the Swarm Maxxim uses a 10-shot horizontal rotary magazine that indexes automatically each time the barrel is broken and closed, giving rapid follow-up shots. The .22 (5.5mm) version drives pellets at up to about 305 m/s (1,000 fps) with alloy ammunition. It features Gamo's Whisper Maxxim dual-chamber sound-dampening system, a two-stage adjustable Custom Action Trigger (CAT), an all-weather glass-filled nylon synthetic stock with a Shock Wave Absorber recoil pad, and an 11mm dovetail rail typically supplied with a 3-9x40 scope.

Gamo, founded in Barcelona in 1959, takes its name from the Spanish word for fallow deer and grew from a lead-pellet maker into one of the world's largest airgun manufacturers. The Swarm line was its answer to the long-standing limitation of break-barrel airguns: single-shot loading. The auto-indexing magazine that defines the Swarm series became one of Gamo's signature consumer innovations of the late 2010s.

Introduced in 2017, the Swarm Maxxim was Gamo's first mass-market break-barrel design to combine a multi-shot magazine with a spring/gas-piston powerplant. A revised 10X Gen 2 model improved the magazine mechanism and reduced jamming. Also offered in .177 caliber, where alloy-pellet velocity reaches up to about 1,300 fps.
