About the Hammerli 150
The Hammerli 150 is a Swiss single-shot free pistol built for ISSF 50 metre precision target shooting. Introduced in 1973, it uses a small Martini-style rear-hinged falling-block action operated by a left-side cocking lever with an ejector, and fires the .22 Long Rifle cartridge through a mechanical match trigger. Its futuristic design for the era featured an enlarged trigger guard and a free-floating wooden front shaft that could house adjustable counterweights, along with an orthopedic adjustable grip and match-grade adjustable sights, and it was developed to challenge rivals such as the Soviet MTs55-1.
Hämmerli free pistols dominated Olympic and ISSF 50 metre pistol competition for decades, and the Model 150 broke from the maker's earlier complex multi-stage designs with a cleaner, more modern layout whose free-floating wooden forend could be loaded with counterweights to tune the pistol's balance.
