About the High Standard Derringer

The High Standard Derringer is a compact double-action-only over/under pocket pistol chambered in .22 Winchester Magnum Rimfire. Introduced in 1962, it carries two superposed barrels in a tip-up break-open frame and fires both chambers in sequence from a single trigger with no trigger guard. Its lightweight aluminum-alloy frame, two-round capacity, and palm-sized dimensions made it a popular concealable backup and pocket pistol, offered over its production run in blued, nickel, silver, and gold-plated finishes.

A modern take on the classic 19th-century pocket derringer, the over/under High Standard Derringer became a staple concealed backup gun and made frequent appearances in film and television as a hideout pistol.
