About the Hopkins & Allen Blue Jacket No. 2
The Hopkins & Allen Blue Jacket No. 2 is a single-action, spur-trigger pocket revolver chambered in .32 rimfire, manufactured by the Hopkins & Allen Manufacturing Company of Norwich, Connecticut, in the late 19th century. Built on a small solid frame with a five-shot cylinder and a short octagonal or round barrel, it was typically nickel plated and often ornately engraved, and was sold inexpensively for personal protection. It was one of many similar concealable American rimfire revolvers produced after the expiration of the Rollin White cylinder patent.
The 'Blue Jacket' was one of dozens of low-cost trade-name pocket revolvers Hopkins & Allen turned out in the 1870s and 1880s, modeled after the early Smith & Wesson rimfire revolvers and aimed at buyers who wanted an affordable, concealable defensive arm.
