About the Husqvarna 1600-series

The Husqvarna 1600-series is a Swedish bolt-action hunting rifle introduced in 1953 by Husqvarna Vapenfabriks AB. It was built around the company's own 'HVA Improved Mauser Action,' a small-ring Mauser-pattern design that allowed Husqvarna to stop buying M98 actions from competitors such as FN. Chambered for popular European and American hunting cartridges including 6.5x55mm Swedish, .30-06 Springfield, .270 Winchester, 9.3x62mm and 7.92x57mm Mauser, it was a well-regarded sporting rifle before being superseded by the cheaper push-feed Model 8000 in 1969.

The 1600-series marked Husqvarna's break from dependence on FN Mauser actions, introducing its own 'HVA Improved Mauser Action' so the storied Swedish arms maker could field a fully in-house sporting rifle in the 1950s.
