About the Husqvarna 8000

The Husqvarna 8000 is a Swedish bolt-action sporting rifle produced by Husqvarna Vapenfabrik in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Marketed as the deluxe 'Imperial Grade', it used the two-lug HVA improved-Mauser action prized for its smooth operation, and was chambered in popular hunting cartridges such as .30-06 Springfield, .270 Winchester, .308 Winchester and .300 Winchester Magnum. Compared with the standard Model 9000 Crown Grade, the 8000 added a jeweled bolt, an engraved quick-release floorplate, a deluxe figured walnut stock with Monte Carlo cheekpiece, and was supplied without iron sights for scope use.

Husqvarna's corporate trademark - the crowned 'H' inside a target ring - traces back to the company's 17th-century origins as a Swedish crown musket factory, and its final sporters like the Imperial 8000 carried that heritage of jeweled bolts and hand-finished walnut into the age of the scoped hunting rifle.

The 8000 (Imperial Grade) and 9000 (Crown Grade) were the top-tier sporters of Husqvarna's final rifle series before the company's firearms operations were absorbed into FFV/Carl Gustaf around 1970; production reportedly ran into the early 1970s. Sources place chief production around 1968-1972.
