About the Husqvarna Model 146

The Husqvarna Model 146 is a Swedish bolt-action sporting rifle built by Husqvarna Vapenfabrik on the full-size FN commercial Mauser 98 action imported from Fabrique Nationale in Belgium. Introduced in 1939 when Husqvarna switched from the Swedish m/96 action to the stronger FN M98 design, it was offered as a hunting rifle chambered in European and American big-game cartridges including 6.5x55mm Swedish, 9.3x62mm Mauser, .270 Winchester and .30-06 Springfield. With controlled round feed, a wing safety, a hinged floorplate and a checkered walnut sporter stock, the Model 146 is prized by collectors for the quality of its FN Mauser action and Swedish steel.

When Husqvarna could no longer rely on the Swedish military m/96 action, it turned to its Belgian competitor FN for Mauser 98 actions in 1939 - an awkward dependence on a rival that nonetheless gave the Model 146 one of the strongest and most respected bolt actions of its era.
