About the Manurhin MR88
The Manurhin MR88 is a French all-steel double-action revolver chambered in .357 Magnum, introduced in 1988 as a commercialised and more affordable derivative of the Manurhin Special Police F1. Based on the renowned but costly Manurhin MR73, it retained a robust steel frame while adopting a Ruger-style cylinder latch and was offered in Defense and Sport configurations with barrels from roughly 3 to 6 inches. It served various French law enforcement organisations until revolvers were phased out in favour of semi-automatic pistols.
The MR88 descended from the legendary Manurhin MR73, prized for accuracy and the ability to digest endless magnum loads. The MR88 brought that lineage to a more affordable, police-oriented sidearm during the final era of the French police revolver.
