About the Manurhin MR93
The Manurhin MR93 is a French double-action/single-action revolver chambered in .357 Magnum, produced from 1993 to 1996 as a modular, lower-cost successor to the hand-fitted MR73 and MR88. Aimed at bringing Manurhin quality to a wider market, it used a simplified modular design with easily accessible internals and a distinctive cylinder release mounted on the right side of the frame just ahead of the cylinder. It was offered in 3, 4, 5.25 and 6-inch barrel lengths with a choice of adjustable target sights or a driftable service sight insert, and Morini target or anatomical grips. Despite its quality-to-price ratio, it never achieved commercial success and only about 640 examples were built.
Conceived as an affordable stablemate to Manurhin's revered MR73, the MR93 traded painstaking hand-fitting for a modular, quicker-to-assemble design in the hope of reaching civilian and sport shooters. Its front-mounted cylinder latch and swappable barrels made it unusual among service-style wheelguns, but a niche market and premium French pricing kept sales tiny, making the roughly 640 revolvers built prized collector pieces today.
