The Marlin 336C is the classic pistol-grip walnut-stocked variant of the Marlin Model 336 lever-action rifle, chambered primarily in .30-30 Winchester. Introduced in 1948 as an evolution of the earlier Marlin Model 1893, the 336 platform features a solid-top receiver with side ejection - a key advantage over the Winchester 1894 because it allows easy mounting of scope optics. Among the most popular deer rifles in North American history, the 336C is renowned for its handiness in brush, exceptional reliability, and traditional American walnut stock with cut checkering.

The Marlin 336 has put more deer in freezers than perhaps any other rifle in American hunting history. Its solid-top receiver with side ejection, designed by Thomas Robinson Robin, was a quiet engineering triumph that gave it a decisive edge over Winchester's 1894 once scopes became standard hunting equipment.
