About the Marlin Model 795
The Marlin Model 795 is an American semi-automatic .22 Long Rifle rifle introduced in 1997 as a magazine-fed evolution of the hugely popular Model 60. It uses the same blowback action and 16-groove Micro-Groove rifled 18-inch barrel but feeds from a detachable 10-round nickel-plated box magazine instead of a tubular magazine. Features include a black synthetic stock, cross-bolt safety, last-shot bolt hold-open, manual bolt release, ramp front sight, adjustable open rear sight, and a receiver grooved for scope mounting. Lightweight, accurate and inexpensive, it was a popular entry-level and small-game rifle until production ceased with Remington's 2020 bankruptcy.
Where the Model 60 used a tubular magazine, the 795 swapped in a detachable box magazine - the same idea Marlin reused in the takedown 'Papoose' - giving plinkers a faster reload at a budget price point.
