About the Marlin Model 25N

The Marlin Model 25N is an American magazine-fed, bolt-action .22 rimfire rifle introduced in 1989 as the updated successor to the Model 25. It chambers .22 Short, .22 Long, and .22 Long Rifle, feeds from a seven-round detachable box magazine, and uses Marlin's signature Micro-Groove rifled barrel. A budget-priced plinking and small-game rifle with a Monte Carlo hardwood stock and a receiver grooved for scope mounts, it was renamed the Model 925 in 2003.

Marlin's bolt-action .22 rimfires trace back to the mid-20th century, and the affordable Model 25 series became a staple first rifle for generations of American shooters. The Micro-Groove rifling, introduced by Marlin in the 1950s, gave these inexpensive barrels a reputation for surprising accuracy with standard-velocity ammunition.
