About the Pedersoli Country Hunter
The Pedersoli Country Hunter is a modern muzzleloading rifle made by Davide Pedersoli in Italy, styled after a generic nineteenth-century half-stock sporting gun and aimed at newcomers to black-powder shooting. Described by the maker as short, simple and manageable, it has a .50 caliber octagonal barrel roughly 720 mm long with six-groove rifling and a 1:34 inch twist suited to the patched round ball, a walnut half-stock, brass trigger guard, color case-hardened lock, a blade front sight and an adjustable rear sight. It is loaded from the muzzle with black powder and a patched ball and is offered in both flintlock (S236) and percussion (S237) ignition versions as an inexpensive entry into muzzleloader hunting and target shooting.
Pedersoli markets the Country Hunter as the ideal first muzzleloader for shooters who want an inexpensive, no-frills way to try the sport, deliberately keeping the design plain and manageable rather than recreating any single historical pattern.
