About the Pedersoli Kuchenreuter Pistol
The Pedersoli Kuchenreuter Pistol is a single-shot muzzle-loading percussion target pistol produced by the Italian black-powder specialist Davide Pedersoli. It is a faithful reproduction of a mid-19th-century German target pistol built around 1854-1855 by the renowned Bavarian gunsmith Bartholomaus Joseph Kuchenreuter of Steinweg near Regensburg. Chambered for the .44 (and .38) caliber patched round ball, it features a browned octagonal-tapered rifled barrel with a 1-in-18-inch twist, a single set trigger, a vertically adjustable rear sight, color case hardened furniture, and an oil-finished walnut stock. Widely regarded as the masterpiece of Pedersoli's catalogue, it is a favorite among muzzle-loading precision target shooters.
Bartholomaus Joseph Kuchenreuter (1782-1864) belonged to one of the most celebrated dynasties of German gunmakers, active in the Regensburg region for generations. Pedersoli's recreation of his target pistol is considered the crowning achievement of the company's black-powder line.
