The Pietta 1851 Navy is a reproduction of the Colt 1851 Navy revolver, one of the most popular and widely produced percussion revolvers of the 19th century. Pietta offers an extensive lineup including Yank (steel frame), Reb/Confederate (brass frame), London (engraved), and Sheriff (shortened barrel) variants. Available in .36 and .44 caliber with various finish options including blued, old silver, and nickel.

The Colt 1851 Navy earned its name from the naval battle scene engraved on its cylinder depicting the victory of the Texas Navy at the Battle of Campeche in 1843. It was the favorite sidearm of Wild Bill Hickok, who carried a matched pair with ivory grips. The Navy revolver served extensively in the American Civil War on both sides - the Union purchased over 100,000 while Confederate copies were made in several Southern armories. Its balanced handling and reliable ignition made it the most popular revolver of its era.
