The Pietta Great Western II Buntline is a modern cartridge-firing single-action revolver, an extended-barrel version of Pietta's Great Western II reproduction of the Colt 1873 Single Action Army. Chambered in .45 Colt with a six-round cylinder, it carries a 12-inch barrel that evokes the legendary Colt Buntline Special, paired with a color case-hardened steel frame, blued barrel and cylinder, and walnut grips. The long sight radius and fixed frame-notch rear sight make it a favorite for plinking, hunting, and Western-style shooting.
The Buntline name traces to the Colt Buntline Special, a long-barreled Single Action Army supposedly presented to Old West lawmen by dime novelist Ned Buntline. Pietta's Great Western II Buntline revives that dramatic silhouette in an affordable, modern cartridge revolver, its 12-inch barrel making it as much a display piece and hunting sidearm as a shooter.
