About the Remington 700P
The Remington 700P is a purpose-built law enforcement sniper rifle based on the legendary Remington Model 700 action. Introduced in 1994, the 700P features a 26-inch heavy-contour barrel for enhanced accuracy and heat resistance during sustained shooting sessions. The rifle utilizes the renowned 40X trigger mechanism, an H-S Precision composite stock reinforced with Kevlar and fiberglass, and an aluminum bedding block for consistent action-to-stock interface. The internal box magazine holds 4 rounds of .308 Winchester. At approximately 9 pounds, the 700P strikes a balance between field portability and shooting stability. The heavy barrel profile significantly reduces mirage effects and maintains point-of-aim consistency through multiple shot strings, making it ideal for law enforcement scenarios where first-round hits at distances up to 300 yards are critical. The 700P became the benchmark against which all other law enforcement precision rifles are measured.
The Remington 700P became the default sniper rifle for American law enforcement, with the vast majority of SWAT teams and tactical units across the country selecting it as their precision platform. Its combination of the proven Model 700 action, heavy barrel, and H-S Precision stock set the template for what a police sniper rifle should be.
