The Remington 870 TAC-14 is a compact pump-action firearm built on the legendary Model 870 receiver, fitted with a 14-inch cylinder-bore barrel and a Magpul-designed Raptor bird's-head pistol grip in place of a shoulder stock. Because it ships with a never-installed stock and an overall length over 26 inches, it is classified by the ATF as a non-NFA firearm rather than a short-barreled shotgun, despite its sub-18-inch barrel. It pairs 870 reliability with a Magpul M-LOK forend for a maneuverable, close-quarters package.

Thanks to a quirk of US law, the TAC-14 wears a 14-inch barrel yet needs no NFA tax stamp: it left the factory with a bird's-head grip instead of a stock and measures just over 26 inches, placing it in the legally distinct category of 'firearm' rather than 'short-barreled shotgun.'
