The Remington Model 552 Speedmaster is an American blowback-operated, semi-automatic rimfire rifle chambered for .22 Short, .22 Long and .22 Long Rifle cartridges interchangeably. Introduced in 1957, it feeds from a tubular magazine beneath the 21-inch barrel and features a walnut stock, cross-bolt safety and a receiver grooved for scope mounts. It has remained a popular plinking and small-game rifle in continuous production for decades.

The Speedmaster name reflects Remington's marketing of the rifle's ability to feed and fire three different .22 rimfire cartridges interchangeably, making it a versatile and economical plinking rifle for generations of American shooters.

Remington Model 552 Speedmaster specifications

The 552 can cycle .22 Short, Long and Long Rifle cartridges without adjustment; magazine capacity is roughly 20 Short, 17 Long or 15 Long Rifle rounds. It shares much of its design with the pump-action Remington Model 572 Fieldmaster.
