About the Rossi Model 986 Cyclops
The Rossi Model 986 Cyclops is a stainless steel double-action/single-action revolver chambered in .357 Magnum, built on a six-shot swing-out cylinder. Imported into the United States by Interarms in the early 1990s, it is distinguished by its heavy full-length barrel underlug, slab-sided 6-inch barrel with integral compensator ports to tame recoil, a ventilated rib, adjustable sights, and classic Coke-bottle style grips. It was a short-lived competitor to full-underlug magnum revolvers such as the Smith & Wesson 686 and Colt Python.
Nicknamed the 'Cyclops', the Model 986 was Rossi's bid to muscle into the premium full-underlug magnum revolver market ruled by the S&W 686 and Colt Python, but it vanished from catalogs after only a couple of years, turning it into a sleeper favorite among collectors who prize its heft and build quality.
