The Ruger GP100 in .327 Federal Magnum is a double-action revolver built on Sturm, Ruger's rugged GP100 platform. Chambered for the high-velocity .327 Federal Magnum cartridge, its seven-shot cylinder holds one more round than a comparable six-shot .357 Magnum, while the shorter, higher-pressure cartridge delivers flat trajectories and lower felt recoil. It uses a stainless-steel frame with a heavy full-length barrel shroud, a triple-locking cylinder, adjustable rear and replaceable front sights, and a cushioned Hogue Monogrip. The gun can also fire the milder .32 H&R Magnum, .32 S&W Long, and .32 S&W cartridges.

The GP100 was introduced in 1985 as a stronger successor to Ruger's Security-Six line, engineered around a solid frame with no side plate for exceptional durability. The .327 Federal Magnum chambering, added decades later, leveraged the platform's strength to safely handle the cartridge's high 45,000 psi working pressure while squeezing a seventh round into the cylinder.
