About the Ruger GP100 Seven-Shot

The Ruger GP100 Seven-Shot is a stainless-steel, double-action/single-action revolver chambered in .357 Magnum that increases the classic GP100's cylinder capacity from six to seven rounds. Built on Ruger's rugged investment-cast frame with a triple-locking cylinder and transfer-bar safety, it is offered with 2.5-inch, 4.2-inch, and 6-inch barrels, cushioned rubber grips with hardwood inserts, a fiber-optic front sight, and an adjustable rear sight.

The GP100 was introduced in 1985 as a beefed-up successor to Ruger's Security-Six, engineered to withstand a steady diet of full-power .357 Magnum loads. The seven-shot version answered a market that valued the extra round while keeping the GP100's reputation for durability.
