About the Ruger Mark IV
The Ruger Mark IV is the fourth generation of Sturm, Ruger & Co.'s long-running .22 LR rimfire target pistol family, which traces back to the original Ruger Standard of 1949. Introduced in 2016, the Mark IV's defining feature is a one-button takedown that lets the upper receiver tilt off the grip frame for cleaning without tools, solving the notoriously fiddly reassembly of earlier Mark series pistols. It uses a simple blowback action and feeds from a 10-round magazine.
The original 1949 Ruger Standard pistol's silhouette was deliberately styled to evoke the German Luger, and its commercial success launched Sturm, Ruger & Co. as a major American firearms maker.
