About the Ruger Mark IV 22/45 Tactical
The Ruger Mark IV 22/45 Tactical is a semi-automatic pistol chambered in .22 Long Rifle, produced by Sturm, Ruger & Co. since 2016. This American-manufactured firearm reflects the engineering traditions and quality standards of its country of origin, designed to meet the demands of both civilian and professional users in a competitive global marketplace. Featuring a 10-round magazine capacity, this pistol offers adequate firepower for defensive carry. The 4.4-inch barrel provides an excellent balance between sight radius and portability, making it equally suitable for duty carry and recreational shooting. Weighing 944g (33.3 oz) empty, this firearm strikes a practical balance between manageable carry weight and sufficient mass to moderate felt recoil during shooting. The polymer frame construction reduces weight while providing a textured, ergonomic grip surface designed for secure handling in all conditions. This firearm represents its manufacturer's commitment to delivering a well-engineered, reliable product that serves the needs of discerning shooters seeking quality, accuracy, and dependable performance from a proven platform.
The 22/45 Tactical occupies the practical middle ground in the Mark IV lineup, offering the suppressor-ready threaded barrel and accessory rail that the standard 22/45 lacks while remaining lighter and more affordable than the Competition or Hunter models. It has become a staple of tactical rimfire training programs where shooters practice drills with inexpensive .22 LR ammunition before transitioning to centerfire pistols.

The 22/45 Tactical ships with a thread protector and an included washer for safety conversion (to left-side only operation). The receiver is drilled and tapped for Weaver- or Picatinny-style rail mounting in addition to the factory-installed under-barrel accessory rail. The threaded barrel uses a 1/2"-28 thread pattern, the most common thread pitch for .22 LR suppressors. The trigger is single-action only with a factory pull weight of approximately 5 pounds (22.2 N). The 1:16-inch right-hand twist with 6 grooves stabilizes standard- and high-velocity .22 LR loads. Two 10-round magazines are included. The checkered 1911-style polymer grip panels are replaceable with aftermarket grips. MSRP is $689. Not available in California or Massachusetts.
