About the Ruger Redhawk .357 Magnum 8-Shot

The Ruger Redhawk .357 Magnum 8-Shot is a large-frame, double-action revolver introduced by Sturm, Ruger & Co. in 2017. Built on the heavy Redhawk platform originally designed for magnum cartridges, this variant chambers eight rounds of .357 Magnum (and is dual-chambered to accept .38 Special) in a relieved cylinder cut for full moon clips. Its cold hammer-forged barrel, triple-locking cylinder locked at front, rear and bottom, and stainless-steel construction make it a robust choice for personal defense, hunting and field carry.

The Redhawk debuted in 1979 as Ruger's first double-action magnum revolver, engineered around a single-piece frame with no removable sideplate for maximum strength. Nearly four decades later Ruger applied that same over-built platform to the comparatively mild .357 Magnum, expanding the cylinder to hold eight rounds and relieving it for moon clips, producing a soft-shooting, high-capacity wheelgun aimed at defensive and outdoor shooters.
