About the Ruger RXM

The Ruger RXM is a polymer-frame, striker-fired, compact semi-automatic pistol chambered in 9x19mm Parabellum, introduced at SHOT Show 2025 as a collaborative design between Sturm, Ruger & Co. and Magpul Industries. Weighing 658 grams (23.2 ounces) unloaded with a 102mm (4-inch) barrel and 182mm (7.15-inch) overall length, the RXM features a modular design centered around a serialized stainless steel Fire Control Insert (FCI) that houses all fire control components and serves as the legally regulated firearm. This chassis drops into Magpul's Enhanced Handgun Grip (EHG) RG9 polymer frame module, which is available in multiple colors including OD Green, Stealth Gray, Black, and Flat Dark Earth. The slide is through-hardened alloy steel with a durable FNC nitride finish and features an optics-ready cut compatible with Trijicon RMR, Shield RMSc, and Leupold DeltaPoint Pro footprints. Standard sights include a tritium front post with co-witness height and a steel drift-adjustable rear. The barrel is alloy steel with FNC nitride finish and 1:10-inch right-hand twist with 6 grooves, threaded 1/2"-28 for suppressor use. The flat-faced trigger incorporates an integral trigger safety and the internal striker block provides drop safety. The RXM ships with two Magpul PMAG 15 GL9 magazines and is compatible with most Glock Gen3 9mm accessories, holsters, and magazines. The pistol features a Glock-pattern universal accessory rail on the dustcover and a 20-degree grip angle.

When Ruger and Magpul teamed up to create the RXM, the firearms community immediately dubbed it a 'Glock killer.' The collaboration leveraged Ruger's precision investment casting and manufacturing expertise with Magpul's decades of polymer accessory design experience. The resulting pistol shipped with a threaded barrel, optics-ready slide, and tritium sights as standard features -- items that typically command premium pricing from competitors -- at a base MSRP of $499.

The RXM represents Ruger's first major collaboration with Magpul and their entry into the Glock-compatible pistol market. The modular FCI design allows the serialized component to be transferred between different grip modules without requiring a new background check, similar to the SIG P320 FCU concept. The Glock Gen3 parts compatibility is a significant market advantage, giving RXM owners access to a vast aftermarket ecosystem of triggers, barrels, sights, and other accessories. The factory trigger breaks at approximately 5.2-5.4 pounds (23-24 N). The threaded barrel comes standard on all models, a feature typically reserved for more expensive tactical variants from competitors. MSRP ranges from $499-$599 depending on the model configuration, positioning the RXM competitively against the Glock 19, SIG P320, and Smith & Wesson M&P 2.0.
