About the Ruger SP101 .327 Federal Magnum
The Ruger SP101 in .327 Federal Magnum is a compact, small-frame double-action revolver built on Ruger's rugged all-stainless-steel SP101 platform. Unlike the five-shot .357 Magnum SP101, the .327 Federal Magnum chambering holds six rounds thanks to the smaller cartridge diameter, giving the shooter an extra round without enlarging the frame. It features Ruger's triple-locking cylinder, a transfer-bar safety, and a cushioned rubber grip with engraved wood insert to tame recoil. The 3-inch Model 5784 pairs high-velocity performance with a concealable footprint, and the platform also accepts .32 H&R Magnum, .32 S&W Long, and .32 S&W cartridges.
The .327 Federal Magnum was developed jointly by Federal and Ruger and launched in 2008, with Ruger revolvers among the first firearms chambered for it. The six-shot SP101 became a favorite for concealed carry, offering magnum-class energy with one more round than comparable snub-nose .357 Magnum revolvers.
