About the Savage Model 6
The Savage Model 6 is an American .22 Long Rifle rimfire rifle introduced in 1938. It is unusual in that it functions as a semi-automatic self-loader with the bolt handle folded in, or as a straight-pull manual repeater with the bolt handle pulled out, feeding from a tubular magazine beneath the barrel that holds up to 15 rounds of .22 LR. A takedown design, its action can be removed from the stock by loosening a single knurled screw. The bolt is held to the rear after each shot until the trigger is released, producing the distinctive 'click-clack' sound that earned it the nickname 'Click Clack' gun.
During the Second World War the Canadian Savage Arms Company's Model 6A was proposed as a sub-calibre training device to be fitted inside the Boys anti-tank rifle for economical marksmanship practice.
