About the Schultz & Larsen M100

The Schultz & Larsen M100 is a Danish bolt-action hunting rifle built at the company's Otterup factory as one of the last models in its classic hand-made sporting line, following the earlier M60, M65, M68 and M84. Like its predecessors it is built on Schultz & Larsen's distinctive multi-lug rear-locking bolt action, in which the locking lugs sit at the rear of the bolt and engage the receiver, a layout the firm carried over from its match-rifle heritage and valued for accuracy. Highly praised by hunters, these rifles were largely hand-built and sold out soon after production, but their labour-intensive manufacture made them costly and limited output.

Schultz & Larsen made its name on precision target rifles, including guns used in Olympic-level competition, and carried that match-rifle pedigree into its rear-locking sporting rifles, of which the M100 was among the last of the classic hand-made line before the company moved to modern series production.

The M100 succeeded the M84 in Schultz & Larsen's classic model progression (M5x, M60, M65, M68, M84, M100). Detailed factory specifications for the M100 are sparsely documented; weight, barrel length and the full chambering list are unconfirmed here and left null. The .30-06 Springfield is recorded as the primary chambering in line with the company's earlier sporting rifles, which were also offered in a range of European hunting calibers.
