About the Smith & Wesson SW22 Victory
The Smith & Wesson SW22 Victory is a single-action, blowback-operated semi-automatic target pistol chambered in .22 Long Rifle. Introduced in 2016 as the successor to the Model 22A, the SW22 Victory was designed to compete directly with the Ruger Mark series in the .22 LR target pistol market. The pistol features full stainless steel construction with a 5.5-inch match-grade barrel that is interchangeable without tools, using a single captive screw at the front of the frame for takedown. The action employs an enclosed hammer-fired blowback design in 400-series stainless steel. The sighting system consists of an adjustable fiber optic rear sight and a ramped fiber optic front sight, with a lightweight Picatinny-style rail for optics mounting. The trigger is an alloy unit with an adjustable trigger stop for precise let-off. The frame accepts aftermarket barrels from manufacturers like Volquartsen, making it a highly customizable platform. Two 10-round detachable magazines are included, and the pistol ships with high-strength removable polymer grips. At 37.4 ounces (1060g) unloaded, the SW22 Victory provides a stable shooting platform with minimal felt recoil from the .22 LR cartridge.
The SW22 Victory was Smith & Wesson's answer to Ruger's long-dominant Mark series of .22 LR target pistols. By focusing on simplicity of maintenance (the single-screw takedown), stainless steel durability, and an interchangeable barrel system that invited aftermarket customization, the Victory carved out a strong position in the competitive .22 target pistol market.

The SW22 Victory was positioned as Smith & Wesson's direct competitor to the Ruger Mark IV in the popular .22 LR target pistol segment. Its key advantage is the remarkably simple takedown system - removing a single captive screw at the front of the frame allows the upper assembly to separate from the lower for cleaning, a significant improvement over the often-criticized complexity of earlier .22 pistol designs. The match-grade barrel features 1:15-inch (381mm) twist with 6 grooves, right-hand twist, optimized for standard velocity .22 LR ammunition. The interchangeable barrel system accepts a variety of aftermarket options, particularly from Volquartsen, making the SW22 Victory a popular base for competition upgrades. The safety mechanism includes a steel-reinforced polymer thumb safety and a magazine disconnect that prevents firing when the magazine is removed. Performance Center models are available with 6-inch fluted barrels, custom triggers, and enhanced finishes. The loaded weight estimate includes ten .22 LR cartridges at approximately 3.3g each.
