This Baikal Model 35M .22LR Target Pistol was manufactured in the Izhevsk factory in Russia likely in the early 2000's. This factory was the same plant which made military firearms for the former USSR including the AK47 & its offspring. Baikal was the marketed brand for Russian firearms which were exported to the West for hard currency during the days of the USSR. After the dissolution of the USSR, they continued production & in fact increased both their range of firearms & numbers produced (who would have thought free enterprise would do that?) In 2004 they were bought out by Remington but continued as Baikal. They have a solid reputation for being bullet proof (yes, gun pun intended) but also for having a less refined finish than their European counterparts. The finish is parkerised & features wood target grips with finger grooves for a right handed shooter & easily adjustable rear sights. This example is in excellent overall condition & comes with 2 magazines. It does not have any major scratches, wear, or other cosmetic damage as can be seen in the photos. The bore is shiny very clean & it has been well maintained by the original owner who sold due to advanced age & no longer competing. This is an great first target pistol for a new shooter on a budget.
