Description
If you ask Colt auto fans which series is their favorite, many will say the Series 70. A case could be made that the pre-war commercial Colts are more elegant & finely rendered, but surviving examples of these are expensive collector items. No longer in production, the Series 70 Colts are a desirable gun & have a following among collectors of modern handguns. The Series 70 Colts were produced between 1970 & 1983 in Government Model with this example being made in 1977 according to the Colt official website. The Series 70 Government Model Colts were chambered in .45 ACP, .38 Super, 9mm Parabellum & 9mm Steyr (for overseas sales). The Government Model has a 5” barrel with checkered walnut grips adorned with the Colt medallion & were produced in blue & nickel finishes. The story goes that many decades ago Colt sold the M1911A1 to civilians as the “Colt Government Model,” a name that still exists today on many Colt 1911's. After a few years of that run, Colt redesigned the barrel bushing in an attempt to improve accuracy. The resulting 'Colt Government Model' was officially termed the “Colt Mark IV Series 70.” This example is in excellent condition as refurbished & comes with 2 magazines, Colt hard case & is fitted with very nice bone (we think) grips which have the Rampant Colt medallion. We are not going to try & rate the condition out of 100 as everyone seems to have a different opinion on what the percentages should be, so we'll let the pictures be the description. You will know if this is for you so view the photos carefully & make your decision based on what you see as they form the main description & override all written information. Ask for more if desired. We think we have described it accurately & correctly but do not claim to be infallible so if we have got anything wrong, it is unintentional. Whilst we check these out for serviceability, the warranty has expired & this is sold on an 'as is' basis. As with all used guns, we recommend you have this checked by a suitably qualified person prior to shooting. Standard cost for shipping to metro locations is $55 & all guns are sent via StarTrack without insurance but packed very well.
