Description
The Colt Army Special came to market in 1908 & was built on the double action frame that Colt introduced in the early 1890’s for the New Army revolver. The Army Special was only produced for about 20 years until 1927 when it was modified slightly & renamed the Official Police, as it was adopted by many police & law enforcement departments. This example was built in 1917 according to Colt records, making this 104 years old. The Army Special was offered in several calibres for Law Enforcement mainly 32-20, very limited numbers in .41 Colt & .38 SPL which is what this one is. This example is a civilian model we believe as it shows no evidence of being martially marked & the 6'' barrel is in line with this. It is in good original condition with most of the bluing gone & replaced with a nice smooth patina overall. The grips are unmarked with no cracks & display very little wear. This is in original condition & definitely not refinished. These don’t come on the market very often & this comes from a private Colt collection, having been in the possession of this collector for many years before now being sold on consignment. Make your decision based on what you see, so please view the photos carefully as they form the main description & override all written information so ask for more if desired. Whilst we check these out for serviceability, the warranty has expired & these are sold on an as is basis. As with all used guns, we recommend you have this checked by a suitably qualified person prior to shooting. Call for shipping cost to your dealer.
