Description
This is your chance to own a rare No. 1 Mk V (not to be confused with a No. 5 'Jungle Carbine'). Between 1920 & 1922 RSAF Enfield trialed a modified design of the No. 1 Mk III known as the Mk V Trials Rifle. Only 20,000 were made & most were later converted to No. 1 Mk III configuration, especially with war coming. These are now uber rare & a holy grail for collectors with a fully intact version easily fetching over $5,000 (if found) according to Ian Skennerton. Next best to a fully intact version is this great example, ready for your restoration. Bolt, receiver & barrel numbers match & it has the all important Mk V marked wrist & safety. As is usual with these rifles, the rear sight has been removed & No. 1 Mk III rear sights have replaced the original ladder peep sights. To restore this back to all original configuration you need the top fore wood, front nose cap, front barrel band & rear aperture sights. Originals do come up every now & then, plus 'EFD' in the UK provide exact replicas made from the original designs & tooling for all of these pieces. This is a great opportunity to restore a rare piece of Lee Enfield SHTLE / SMLE history & being mostly intact provides a great base to start from. This would complete your Lee Enfield collection or could be the centrepiece at least. Do your own research on these & you will see. Please view the photos carefully as they form the main description & override all written information. Ask for more photos if desired. Sold on consignment on behalf of a collector.
