Description
Fully matching & in original, unrefinished condition! Offered for sale is this rare low numbered pre-war Fabrique Nationale 'Grande Puissance' FN GP35, commonly called the Hi Power. After exhaustive research we are confident that this is what it presents to be, which is a pre-war commercial model GP35. The pistols were originally made in two models: an "Ordinary Model" with fixed sights & an "Adjustable Rear Sight Model" with a tangent-type rear sight & a slotted grip for attaching a wooden shoulder stock. Correctly, it has civilian proof marks (no military that we can see) & with that serial number was probably made as early as 1936. This is supported by the slide/frame markings & proof marks, which from available information indicates a commercial model & the high gloss blue finish with no lanyard ring or military proofs support this. The font of the serial number is correct for pre-war also. The grips are wood & the inside is painted red, as is also correct for pre-war GP35's. The lack of the tangent sight is also a giveaway, as commercial models did not ordinarily have this & are the only known pistols to have the dovetailed rear sights at this time as there was no requirement for this on a civilian pistol, despite the fact many were purchased privately by Officers of various European armies wanting more firepower than available at the time with issued service sidearms. It is in outstanding condition with plenty of the original blueing still visible, with the expected fine scratches from handling & wear on the high points from being holstered. It appears all original with no indication of parts replaced however the magazine is not original. The bore is very good so definitely a shooter. This is being sold on consignment from a private collection & is offered for the first time in Australia. Do your own research & you will know if this is for you. Please view the photos carefully & make your decision based on what you see as they form the main description & override all written information. Ask for more if desired. We think we have described it accurately & correctly but do not claim to be infallible so if we have got anything wrong, it is unintentional & are happy for feedback from people who know more than we do. This actual gun is featured on a US website as an example of a pre-war GP35, see below: https://line.17qq.com/articles/gijgpihdz.html Whilst we check these out for serviceability, the warranty has expired & this is sold on an 'as is' basis. As with all used guns, we recommend you have this checked by a suitably qualified person prior to shooting. Call for shipping cost to your dealer. This is an opportunity for the serious Hi Power collector & may be the only one you see for sale in Australia for a long time. Call for shipping cost to your dealer.
