Description

Unusual find & all matching numbers! This beautiful Browning FN Model 1922 pistol was made by Fabrique Nationale d’Armes de Guerre (National Factory of Weapons of War, or FN) probably around 1945/46 & issued to the Dept. of Finance in the Queen Wilhelmina government of the post war Netherlands. This is evidenced by the A prefix on the S/N, as this was correct S/N range the Germans were up to in 1944 when the factory was liberated & when the Belgians commenced production for their own purposes they used the parts available that did not have the dirty bird stamped on it. This example features checkered walnut grips with lanyard ring. With cash being the only real currency post war, protecting it was a significant mission so make no mistake, this was a service weapon. The finish is very nice deep high gloss bluing with the appropriate proof marks in all the right places & displays the Dutch Royal crest of Queen Wilhelmina on the top of the slide, along with D.v.F (Department van Financien) on the side (see the photos). The overall condition is excellent as can be seen in the photos. The markings are clear and legible & grips are in very good condition while the bore is sharp & shiny. The action is excellent. Here is a fantastic & unusual pistol from the immediate World War 2 years chambered in 9mm Browning which is one for the collector of rare & unusual 20th Century handguns. We are not going to try & rate the condition out of 100 as everyone seems to have a different opinion on what the percentages should be, so we'll let the pictures be the description. You will know if this is for you so view the photos carefully & make your decision based on what you see as they form the main description & override all written information. Ask for more if desired. We think we have described it accurately & correctly but do not claim to be infallible so if we have got anything wrong, it is unintentional. Whilst we check these out for serviceability, the warranty has expired & this is sold on an 'as is' basis. As with all used guns, we recommend you have this checked by a suitably qualified person prior to shooting. Standard cost for shipping to metro locations is $55 & all guns are sent via StarTrack without insurance but packed very well.
