Description
An interesting example of a late 19th-century Belgian pocket pistol, this Liège-made pepperbox pistol is chambered in 32 Rimfire and represents a fascinating period of European firearms development. Manufactured in Liège, Belgium—then one of the world's largest firearms-producing centres—these compact defensive pistols were popular throughout Europe during the latter half of the 1800s. Featuring a break-open action with twin side-by-side barrels, the pistol utilises the rimfire cartridge system. The compact design, bird's-head walnut grip and exposed hammer make it a classic Victorian-era pocket revolver alternative, intended for discreet personal protection and civilian carry. This example retains much of its original character, with matching period construction, steel frame and barrels, and attractive aged patina consistent with its age. The simple yet effective action demonstrates the ingenuity of early cartridge firearms before centre-fire ammunition became the universal standard. Highly collectible and increasingly difficult to find, antique rimfire pistols such as this appeal to collectors of Victorian firearms, European antiques, Belgian arms and early cartridge weaponry.
