Radom P.35 (p)

Matching numbered late WW2 Radom VIS Pistole 35 (P) with Nazi Waffenamts Overlooked by collectors in the past but rapidly becoming highly desirable, the Polish Radom VIS was designed by the Poles using design concepts from the Browning Hi Power & also the Colt 1911, including the grip safety. It was designated the Pistole 35 (P), otherwise known as the P.35 (p) after the Germans overran the country & conscripted the armoury in Radom into making these pistols for the Nazis. It became very popular with the German armed forces & is usually associated with use by the Luftwaffe paratroopers (Fallschirmjäger) & Waffen SS. Surprisingly it was the most issued Nazi sidearm after the P-38, although it was often forgotten or ignored by collectors until now. This hard to obtain WW2 pistol was manufactured by the Steyr factory in Austria with parts removed from the Radom factory because the Germans didn't trust the conscripted (forced) Polish workers not to sabotage or steal un-numbered guns. This example is a interesting piece indeed, as it displays the original blued finish typical of early war models with the late war wood grips which were usually issued with the phosphate finished variations. These grips indicate an arsenal rebuild late 1944 or even 1945, as these wooden grips were a period replacement for the original bakelite grips the earlier '3 - lever' variations came with usually. It has the Eagle over 88 Waffenamts on frame, slide & barrel, plus more where they should be. The bore is in excellent order so definitely a shooter. This is not a Russian capture & all metal is in excellent original condition with a large amount of the original blueing still present. Toward the end of the war production was modified to remove the third lever in order to hasten production & so these 3-lever versions are the most desirable & sought after by collectors, especially with the added context of the late war wood grips. These don't come around very often in Australia, especially early ones in this condition & are highly desirable to the serious collector. This will make an excellent addition to your WW2 handgun or Nazi collection.
