About the Akdal MKA 1919
The Akdal MKA 1919 is a gas-operated, semi-automatic 12-gauge combat shotgun designed in Turkey by Ucyildiz Arms (Akdal Arms). Its layout deliberately mimics the AR-15/M16 rifle family, with a pistol grip, carry handle, Picatinny rail and a detachable box magazine, making it popular for tactical and sport-shooting use. The polymer-shelled receiver and 470 mm barrel keep weight to around 3.25 kg, and the gas system cycles standard 12-gauge shotshells from box magazines of varying capacity.
The MKA 1919 was one of the first 12-gauge semi-automatic shotguns to fully adopt the AR-15/M16 ergonomic template, letting AR-platform shooters carry over their manual of arms to a shotgun.
