About the Baikal MP-153

The Baikal MP-153 is a Russian gas-operated semi-automatic shotgun produced by the Izhevsk Mechanical Plant under the Baikal trademark. Introduced around 2000 alongside the MP-133 pump-action, it uses a self-adjusting gas valve that reliably cycles a wide range of 12-gauge loads from light field shells up to 3.5-inch SuperMagnum cartridges. It features an aluminum receiver, easily removable barrels and an interchangeable choke system, and is offered with 610, 660, 710 or 750 mm barrels and wood or polymer furniture.

The MP-153's self-regulating gas system is famous for digesting almost anything you feed it, from the lightest birdshot to bone-rattling 3.5-inch magnum slugs, without any manual adjustment, a key reason it earned a reputation for Kalashnikov-like reliability among budget semi-autos.
