About the Browning X-Bolt Micro Midas
The Browning X-Bolt Micro Midas is a compact, scaled-down bolt-action hunting rifle built on Browning's popular X-Bolt platform and aimed at youth, smaller-framed and recoil-sensitive shooters. It carries the full X-Bolt feature set - a short-throw 60-degree bolt lift with three locking lugs, the adjustable gold-plated three-lever Feather Trigger, a free-floated sporter-contour barrel, the proprietary X-Lock four-screw scope mounting system and a patented rotary detachable magazine - inside a downsized package. The defining changes are a shortened 12.5-inch length of pull, a trimmed Grade I satin-finished black walnut stock and a lightweight sporter barrel (20 inches in standard short-action chamberings), which together drop the weight to roughly six pounds and make the rifle easy to shoulder and carry for smaller hunters. An Inflex Technology recoil pad tames felt recoil, and the receiver is drilled and tapped for optics. It was offered in a range of mild-recoiling short-action cartridges including .243 Winchester, 7mm-08 Remington, .308 Winchester, .22-250 Remington and 6.5 Creedmoor.
The Micro Midas name comes from Browning's long-running tradition of compact, short-stocked rifles for youth and small-framed shooters, previously seen on the A-Bolt Micro Hunter. Rather than simply chopping down a full-size rifle, the Micro Midas paired a shortened stock and length of pull with a light sporter barrel so young hunters could grow into a rifle that still handled and shot like a full-featured X-Bolt.
