The Colt Grizzly is a double-action/single-action revolver chambered in .357 Magnum (and capable of firing .38 Special), introduced by Colt in 2024. Built on the modern Colt Python (I-frame) platform, the Grizzly is aimed at outdoor carry, hunting backup, and self-defense. Its defining feature is a factory-ported 4.25-inch vent-rib barrel with six circular ports - three per side of the rib - that vent propellant gases upward to counteract muzzle rise and tame the recoil of full-power magnum loads. The revolver carries six rounds in a smooth unfluted stainless cylinder and uses the Python's leaf-spring action for a smooth trigger pull. It wears a red ramp front sight, a fully adjustable rear target sight for windage and elevation, and Hogue Overmolded rubber grips that interchange with Colt Python and Anaconda grips. The frame and barrel are brushed/polished stainless steel with a matte top rib to reduce glare and aid sight acquisition, and the muzzle is finished with a recessed target crown to protect the rifling.

Named for the great bear and introduced alongside the .44 Magnum Colt Kodiak, the Grizzly reframes the classic Colt Python as a rugged, ported trail and defense revolver 'loaded for bear' - trading the Python's collector-grade polish for factory porting and a hard-use outdoor mission.

Announced as a new-for-2024 model alongside the larger .44 Magnum Colt Kodiak. The Grizzly shares the reintroduced 2020 Python's investment-cast stainless construction and leaf mainspring. The stock configuration is a 4.25-inch ported barrel; Colt has also listed 3-inch and 6-inch barrel options. Weight is approximately 40 oz (about 1134 g). MSRP at launch was roughly $1,599. Because the Grizzly is built on the Python frame, its grips are interchangeable with Python and Anaconda grips, and it retains the Colt tradition of left-hand 1:14 rifling twist.
