About the Colt Python 2020 4.25-inch
The Colt Python 2020 4.25-inch is a double-action/single-action revolver chambered in .357 Magnum, marking Colt's 2020 relaunch of its legendary Python line after production of the original ceased in 2005. This mid-length model carries a 4.25-inch stainless steel vented-rib barrel with a full-length underlug and a recessed target crown, feeding six rounds from a swing-out cylinder that also accepts .38 Special. The reissue uses a redesigned stainless steel action with roughly 30 percent more steel in the top strap for durability, a user-replaceable hex-screw front sight adapted from the King Cobra, an adjustable target rear sight, and checkered walnut grips capped with a Colt medallion.
The Colt Python was first introduced in 1955 as Colt's flagship revolver and earned a reputation as the 'Rolls-Royce of revolvers' for its smooth action and precise fit. After the last of the original run was cataloged in 2005, collector demand drove prices to extraordinary levels, prompting Colt to reintroduce a re-engineered Python for 2020.
